KISS Gel Strong Nail Polish in ‘Hot Mama’- Review + Swatches
Hey Party People! I’ve recently purchased a KISS Gel Strong nail polish from my local hair store and decided to try it out. I’m pretty new to the gel nail polish scene so I’m always on the look out to try out different brands.
The shade I tried from the Gel Strong collection is called ‘Hot Mama’ which is a deep fuscia color with a creme finish. This is a gel nail polish but no UV/LED lamp is needed! Retails for approx. $2.99 USD.
The formula applies beautifully. No streaks here! The formula has a great consistency and is true to color. The color is opaque even on the first coat and dries quickly! One thing to note, the polish finish has a satin/semi-matte finish when applied by itself. You can add gloss and shine with the matching gel activator top coat.
Long lasting or nah?
A gel activator top coat is necessary for this polish, hands-down. Without it, your polish will wear away prematurely. I wore this polish without the top coat and it started to wear away within the day. With a the top coat activator, you can maybe get away with only a few days without chip.
I love this polish shade, it’s perfect for any occasion and the application was a dream. As much as I love KISS products, I personally would not repurchase due to the satin/semi-matte finish and the fact that it is imperative to use the correct top coat or it will wear away very quickly.
Another quality I did like about this polish is that you do not need to wait for each coat to dry before applying the next one. Some gel nail polish like the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy require each coat to fully dry or you end up completely wiping all of them away haha.
